Guard Arm Brace
A Guard Arm Brace is a diagonal steel support installed between a utility pole and a guard arm to provide structural reinforcement.
By forming a rigid triangular bracing system, it transfers vertical loads, lateral forces, and impact stress from the guard arm directly into the pole. This prevents sagging, twisting, and fatigue at the connection point, significantly improving impact resistance and long-term stability.

What Is a Guard Arm Brace?
A Guard Arm Brace is a diagonal steel support installed between a utility pole and a guard arm to reinforce the guard arm’s structural performance.
Guard arms are commonly used to protect conductors, crossarms, or equipment from vehicle contact, external interference, or environmental hazards. However, when mounted without adequate reinforcement, guard arms can act as cantilevered members, concentrating bending and torsional stress at the pole connection.
The Guard Arm Brace resolves this issue by forming a rigid triangular support structure. This configuration redirects vertical loads, lateral forces, and impact energy away from the guard arm connection and into the main body of the pole as controlled compressive forces.
As a result, the brace transforms the guard arm from a vulnerable attachment into a stable, integrated structural element—significantly improving load capacity, impact resistance, and long-term reliability.

Specifications
Material: Hot Dipped Galvanized Steel
Coating: Galvanized, ASTM A-153
Key Features
- Direct Load Transfer
Channels vertical, lateral, and impact forces from the guard arm directly into the pole as axial compression. - Eliminates Critical Stress Points
Prevents bending and torsional stress concentration at the guard arm-to-pole connection. - Rigid Triangular Bracing
Forms a stable triangulated structure to significantly increase overall stiffness. - Durable, Low-Maintenance Construction
Made from heavy-duty steel, hot-dip galvanized to ASTM A153 for long-term corrosion resistance.
Applications
Roadside & Traffic-Exposed Installations
Used on utility poles located along highways, urban streets, and access roads where conductors and equipment require protection from vehicle impact.
Guard Arm & Equipment Protection Systems
Provides essential reinforcement for guard arms installed to shield conductors, crossarms, transformers, and line hardware from accidental contact or external damage.
High-Risk & Restricted Right-of-Way Areas
Ideal for installations in narrow rights-of-way, intersections, and congested corridors where clearance is limited and impact risk is elevated.
Utility Line Upgrades & Preventive Reinforcement
Applied in new construction or retrofit projects to improve structural resilience and reduce long-term maintenance and outage risks.
