Dead-end Clevis
The critical final link in a deadend assembly, engineered to anchor and withstand the full, continuous tensile load of conductors or guy wires. Forged for maximum strength and hot-dip galvanized for lifelong endurance, it ensures the absolute integrity of line terminations, corners, and dead-ends in overhead systems.

What is Deadend Clevis?
A Deadend Clevis (also known as a Strain or Terminal Clevis) is a mission-critical anchoring hardware used in overhead transmission and distribution systems. Unlike a Secondary Clevis used for suspension in straight-line spans, the Deadend Clevis is specifically employed at points where the line terminates, angles sharply, or requires a rigid anchor.
Its fundamental role is to safely transfer 100% of the conductor’s or guy wire’s mechanical tension through the insulator assembly directly to the supporting pole or tower structure. This makes it the cornerstone of any deadend setup, where failure is not an option. Typically, it interfaces with the ball-eye of a strain insulator or other terminal hardware, forming a secure, non-pivoting connection designed for pure tensile load.

Key Features
✅ Engineered for Ultimate Tensile Strength
Forged from high-grade steel to handle 100% of conductor/guy wire tension with a high safety margin.
✅ Hot-Dip Galvanized for Lifelong Corrosion Resistance
Coated per ASTM A153 to withstand decades of exposure in the harshest environments.
✅ Secure Locking Design to Prevent Accidental Release
Features a positive-locking pin or cotter system for safety under dynamic loads and vibration.
✅ Precise Fit for Deadend Hardware Assemblies
Designed to interface correctly with ball-eye sockets of strain insulators and other deadend hardware (e.g., anchor rods, turnbuckles).
✅ Versatile for Both Line Dead-Ends and Guy Wire Terminations
The robust standard solution for anchoring both main conductors and supporting guy wires.
Applications
Conductor Dead-End Termination
The anchor point where the conductor’s full tension is transferred through the insulator string to the pole or tower structure.
Guy Wire Termination
Securing down-guys and overhead ground wires (OPGW), providing critical stabilizing force for structures.
Line Angle or Corner Strain
Handling the resultant vector forces at line angles and corners, where conductors change direction.
