What Is a V Crossarm Brace?

A V Crossarm Brace is a structural steel support component named for its distinctive “V” shape. It is installed underneath a crossarm on a utility pole, with the two upper ends connected to the crossarm and the lower apex anchored to the pole.

Its primary engineering function is to act as a rigid strut, providing direct vertical support to prevent the crossarm from sagging under the weight of conductors, transformers, or ice loads.

The “Hot-Formed” in its name refers to the advanced manufacturing process: it is heated and bent from a single, continuous piece of steel angle iron, creating a seamless, one-piece structure with no welded joints.
