PRODUCT OVERVIEW

What Is a Flat Bracket?

A flat bracket (also referred to as a mending plate or reinforcement plate) is a planar metal connector with pre-punched (and sometimes slotted) holes used to join, splice, stabilize or locally reinforce two pieces of timber, panels or light framing members that lie in the same plane. Its primary function is to spread shear and maintain alignment—not to serve as a primary load-bearing connector like certain engineered joist hangers or structural angle connectors.

  • Form: Flat strip or shaped outline (Straight, T, L, Cross, Wide, Heavy).
  • Hole System: Round holes for final fixation; optional elongated slots for installation tolerance and pre-alignment.
  • Typical Thickness Range: ~1.2–3.0 mm (heavier gauges with rib / flange for higher localized stress).
  • Distinction vs Angle Bracket: Flat brackets act in-plane; angle brackets add a bend (L-form) to transfer loads across orthogonal faces.

Product Variants

  • Straight Flat Plate (standard multi-hole strip)
  • T Bracket (T-node joining)
  • L / Corner Flat (corner reinforcement)
  • Cross / Plus (+) Plate
  • Slotted Flat (elongated holes for tolerance)
  • Wide Body Reinforcement (wider shear spread)
  • Heavy Duty (thicker / ribbed / flanged)
  • Stainless Series (304 / 316)
  • Decorative Powder-Coated (Black / RAL colors)
  • Duplex (HDG + Powder dual system)

OEM / Customization / Private Label

  1. Customizable Dimensions & Features: contour shape, decorative edges, keep-out zones.
  2. Hole Pattern Engineering: grid density, asymmetric zones, slot + round combinations to reduce fasteners.
  3. Thickness & Reinforcement: thicker gauges, flanging, ribs, double plates.
  4. Surfaces: Black / White / Gray / Bronze / Custom RAL / Duplex.
  5. Branding: Embossed stamp, laser mark, inkjet, printed packaging.

Material & Corrosion Guide

  • Indoor dry: G90 / Plain (for secondary processing)
  • Light outdoor / furniture: G90 + Powder (aesthetic + base protection)
  • Treated lumber / moderate corrosion: G185 / HDG
  • Coastal / high salt: 316 (preferred) / 304 for moderate chloride
  • Balanced appearance + durability: Duplex (HDG + Powder)
  • Decorative / retail display: Colored Powder (Black / White / Gray / RAL)

Structural & Use Notes

  • Flat / Mending Plates are generally auxiliary (load distribution, non-primary structural).
  • Critical load-bearing must be verified by licensed structural engineer.
  • Long slots: use for initial alignment—tighten round holes first, then slot holes.
  • Avoid flame heating or forced bending on coated parts (risk of coating damage).
  • Hole pattern optimization can reduce fasteners while maintaining load paths.

They are mainly auxiliary for distribution and reinforcement. Primary structural loads require engineer verification.

Consider shear vs tension, timber section, screw diameter, fatigue cycles. We can supply a thickness guidance sheet after application details.

Yes. Provide prohibited zones and load path; we design an optimized pattern to reduce fasteners.

HDG (hot-dip galvanized) has thicker zinc for outdoor / treated lumber; G90 is continuous galvanized for indoor or light exposure.

316 includes molybdenum for higher chloride resistance (coastal / high salt); 304 suits general outdoor.

Use slot + round combination, tighten round holes first, then final torque on slots.

Yes: Straight / L / T + screws + retail card/box + barcode/logo.

Mixed SKU loading, hole pattern optimization (fewer screws), Duplex replacing some stainless, packaging density improvements.
